About Hawthorne

Two singer-songwriters walk into a bar…
…well, actually, they work at the bar. Musicians Nat Osborn and Aimee Bayles met during a shift a decade ago and have been harmonizing ever since. Together, they form the basis of Hawthorne, a Folk-Americana band with a modern edge.

An underground favorite of the folk scene for nearly a decade, Hawthorne is a mainstay at renowned New York City venues, and is known in the wider New York area for their celebrated intimate house concerts. The band released their eponymous debut album in 2016 on CD, which sold out through in person concerts. The album is now available everywhere digitally, as is the new single “Are We,” produced by Kiyoshi Matsuyama and Danielle Warman.

Hawthorne’s music weaves intricate vocal harmonies with contemporary folk melodies and arresting instrumentation.

Their sound draws inspiration from folk legends Paul Simon, Gillian Welch, Patty Griffin, and Alison Krauss as well as contemporary artists Fleet Foxes, Glen Hansard, and Dawes. With Nat and Aimee’s original songs taking center stage, the band includes long-time collaborator and cellist Karna Ray, and a rotating cast of talented multi-instrumentalists.
