Current MAC membership at the is required for discounted tuition. If you are uncertain if your membership is current, please call the MAC at (508)748-1266. Tuition for lessons are nonrefundable, unless a class or program is canceled by the MAC or instructor. In case of cancellation of a lesson by the MAC or instructor, make up dates will be arranged with the student and instructor.
Private Voice Lessons (All Skill Levels)
Unlock your true vocal potential in a supportive, personalized environment. Taught by powerhouse vocalist Sara Achorn, private voice lessons cover foundational technique, breath support, pitch control, tone production, and stage presence. Drawing from her extensive background in community theater, rock, pop, and theatrical performance—as well as her expertise in special education—Sara tailors every lesson to the student’s unique goals, voice type, and learning style, helping singers of all experience levels build confidence and healthily expand their range.
Beginner Guitar Lessons
Start your musical journey on six strings! Designed for absolute beginners, this class introduces guitar fundamentals in an approachable, hands-on way. Students will learn basic open chords, simple strumming patterns, tuning, fretboard navigation, and how to play along to favorite songs right away. With Sara’s adaptive approach to music instruction, lessons move at a comfortable pace to ensure students build solid mechanics, finger strength, and a strong musical foundation.

About the Instructor
Sara Achorn is a vocalist and experienced music educator raised right here in the Tri-Town area. Known across the region as the powerhouse lead vocalist behind Little Lies: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac, Sara brings a lifelong passion for the stage into every class and private lesson. Her background is deeply rooted in local community theater, where she started performing at an early age and built years of stage experience to countess memorable ensemble productions. Her professional performing career spans across the north east region of the United States —from Toad’s Place in New Haven, CT, Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, MA, to Hub City Vinyl in Hagertown, MD — and includes singing the National Anthem at TD Garden.
Beyond the stage, Sara brings deep heart and expertise to her teaching. As a Special Education Music Instructor working with students ages 5–22 across a wide spectrum of visual, motor, and cognitive needs, she excels at crafting adaptive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environments. Whether guiding toddlers through their very first rhythmic play, helping an aspiring singer unlock their range, or mentoring a new songwriter, Sara meets every student where they are with warmth, energy, and professional insight.

Ready to tap out of “adulting” for a bit and get a good workout? Join the MAC for a lively, fun dance class led by instructor Tess Hedblom! This 45-minute class is designed for adults who want to add a little more happiness and a little less seriousness to their week. Tap dance is a classic American theatrical style that blends percussive footwork with rhythmic precision. In this all-levels class, you'll develop rhythm, balance, and coordination while exploring your creativity and boosting both physical and mental wellness. Whether you're brand new to tap or dusting off old skills, this is your percussive playtime! This means EVERYONE is welcome; no prior dance experience necessary. Students may bring their own tap shoes or borrow a gently loved pair from the MAC (available on a first-come, first-served basis). Comfortable clothing recommended—no stress, just steps and smiles! Pre-registration is required.

Scene Study Class for Adults
The Marion Art Center is pleased to announce a new scene study and acting class for adults. If you have ever wondered what it takes to stand up on the stage—or if you are coming back to acting after some other roads traveled—then this is the class for you! Dive into acting in this exploratory class in a supportive environment with experienced instructors to guide you along the way.
In this 6-week class you will dissect classic texts or scenes from modern plays, dust off your funny bone with theater games, and explore the fundamentals of acting. Practice reading texts, character analysis, voice work and beyond.
Whether you want to prepare for an upcoming audition at the MAC or elsewhere—or do something new you've never tried before—all are welcome to this space where your creativity can flourish.
Garrett Olson (he/him) joined the MAC as our ArtStart Music and Movement teacher in 2025 and serves as our program director for our newest summer camp, All Things Theater. He has also taught several acting workshops for adults at the MAC.
Olson is a professional working actor, director, screenwriter, film maker, song writer, seasoned fight director/stunt coordinator, intimacy director/choreographer captain and safety/accessibility consultant for stage and screen. He is currently the Technical Director and Associate Artistic Director for the WatermelonAlligator Theatre Company, co-founder and one of the managing/creative producers for Danu Pictures, and is the former Technical Director/acting coach/accessibility consultant for the Boston Zombie Apocalypse. An accomplished teaching artist and combatant instructor, Garrett’s classes in public speaking, acting, staged violence, and improv are crafted for students of all levels and abilities. Classes include adaptive programs to accommodate all abilities creating a truly immersive and inclusive opportunity for learning and growth.
Jess Wilson (she/they) has extensive experience as an actor, tech, designer, producer, playwright, and director, and is the Artistic and Managing Director of the WatermelonAlligator Theatre Company. An experienced actor-combatant, Jess frequently works as an Intimacy Director, Fight Captain, and Safety Coordinator for stage and film. An adjunct professor in Performing Arts at Cape Cod Community College, Jess is an accomplished author, consultant, executive coach, teaching artist, and professional speaker who travels globally delivering talks on a wide range of theatre disciplines, healthcare, leadership, and humanitarian topics. Recent appearances include the Kennedy Center’s American College Theater Festival Region 1 Annual Conference (Basics of Inclusive Intimacy Practices, Trauma-Informed Spaces, and Improv Masterclass) and Tilden Arts Center’s Masterclass series (Yes, And…Now What? & So You Wanna Fight?).
