Small Works on the Wall & Holiday Shop 2019
Call for Entries
The Marion Art Center announces a Call for Entries for its annual juried exhibition, Small Works on the Wall. The exhibition runs November 22 through December 18, 2019. Artists are invited to submit up to five small works for the final exhibition of the season. Works must be no larger than 12 inches in any direction (including frame). All works must be available for sale and may be collected by the buyer upon purchase. The Marion Art Center will select a portion of all accepted works for exhibition and retain the additional works in storage. Stored works may be added to the exhibition as other works are sold and removed from the wall. The MAC will retain a 35% commission on all sales.
To apply for exhibition, email up to 5 images of works to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than October 25, 2019. Images should represent a cohesive body of work. All submissions will be reviewed by the exhibitions committee and artists will be notified of acceptance by November 8. The drop off window for all works is scheduled on Tuesday, November 19, 10am-2pm at the Marion Art Center. The exhibition opens on Friday, November 22, with a reception from 6-8pm. The last date of the exhibition is Wednesday December 18. Pick up for all remaining works is scheduled for Thursday, December 19 from 10am-4pm.
Small Works on the Wall will also feature a selection of curated goods for sale throughout the exhibition. Vendors, selected through a jury process, must provide display cases/props and will be assigned table or floor space that is approximately 3 feet by 2 ½ feet. Artisans must submit a detailed inventory sheet with all items. Each item must be labeled with price and artist/vendor name. The MAC will provide instructions and an inventory form to each vendor. The MAC will retain a 35% commission on all sales. The drop off window for all vendor inventory is scheduled on Tuesday, November 19, 10am-2pm at the Marion Art Center. The exhibition opens on Friday, November 22, with a reception from 6-8pm. The last date of the exhibition is Wednesday December 18. Pick up for all remaining vendor items is scheduled for Thursday, December 19 from 10am-4pm.
Additionally, the Marion Art Center will have two days of its Holiday Shop on Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 14, 10am-4pm each day. (December 14 is also the date of the Marion House Tour.)
Vendors will be selected via jury process. If chosen, they will be invited to set up a larger display of goods (approximately 3’ x 6’) and must be present for the duration of the sale each day. The MAC will have vendors in the upper and lower galleries, and space will be assigned by the exhibitions committee upon arrival. Space is limited, and early registration is recommended. The cost to participate is $50 per day, and the MAC does not retain any commission on goods sold. Holiday Shop vendors are responsible for all set up and break down of booth and must provide all display items, cases, props, and tablecloths. The exhibitions committee requests neutral tablecloths to create a unified visual display. Vendors are responsible for all sales and taxes.
If a vendor chooses to participate in the extended shop and also registers for a booth during the Holiday Shop, the MAC will not take a commission on that vendor’s items during the Holiday Shop on Dec. 13 & 14. Vendors will be responsible for all sales on these dates.
Space for the Holiday Shop is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To apply as an exhibitor, email up to 5 images with a brief description of goods to be sold, to email@example.com no later than October 25, 2019. All submissions will be reviewed by the exhibitions committee and vendors will be notified of acceptance by November 8.
