The Marion Art Center celebrates 53 years of serving the area as a unique community center for the arts. Last year classes and lessons in music, art, dance and theater were offered year round.  ARTSTART, a summer program for children completed its 25th year. The theater produced "Gold in the Hills," "Uncle Vanya," "Rumors," and "Love Changes Everything: A Musical Revue," plus "Imagine - an American Girl musical," and Young People's theater shows "The Pied Piper," "Goldilocks," "The Midas Touch,," and "Realm Wars." MAC hosted the Halloween Parade and the Fourth of July float won first prize! Special Events included Kirsten & Singing Bird's holiday tea party and ARts in the Park.
 
The gallery hosted nine exhibitions including The Holiday Shop, Art in Bloom, and two Members shows. The Summer Members Show opens at the Marion Art Center on Friday, August 20th with a reception to meet the artists from 6 to 8 p.m.  All members in good standing are eligible to submit 1 piece for the installation.  Drop-off day is Wednesday, August 18th, 1 to 5 pm.  Each piece must be framed, labeled with title, price, name, address and phone.  MAC takes 30 % commission.  Pick-up date is September 29th, 1 to 5 pm.

The Annual Membership Drive is underway. Membership and is open to the public. By being a member, you are supporting a unique, not-for-profit, community cultural center. Privileges include invitations to gallery openings and other Special Events, receiving quarterly Newsletters, and discounts on theater and concert tickets and classes plus eligibility to participate in the Semi-annual Membership Shows (held  August 20 – September 28, 2010 and in January - February, 2011.),   Members are also eligible to rent the Center for special events, meetings, showers and birthday parties.  Angels, Patrons, Donors and Sponsors are listed in the Playbills and in Newsletters.

As the Marion Art Center completes its 53rd year, the organization continues to serve the area in many ways.  The mission to promote the visual and performing arts is realized through classes, lessons, plays, concerts, lectures, exhibitions and other events.

Last year                                                        .

·        Our Fourth of July float won first prize.

·        Our witches organized the Halloween Parade

·        Our Gallery presented ten exhibitions plus the Holiday Shop and “Art in Bloom” with the Marion Garden Discussion Group

·        Our Theater produced  “Gold in the Hills”, “Uncle Vanya”, “Rumors”, “Love Changes Everything,” “Realm Wars”& other Youth Theater shows.

·        Special Events included the Kirsten’s Holiday Party, The forth annual ARTS IN THE PARK, and a concert by New England Winds Ensemble.

·        Classes in art, music, dance and theater were held year round.  There were two Dance Recitals and 6 Young People’s Theater shows.

·        Artcamp/ARTSTART entered its 25th season.

·        Scholarships are awarded to students in need.
