Variations on the Theme of Pastels

“Variations  On  A Theme In Pastels”, nine local artists will present pastel paintings at the Marion Art Center located at 80 Pleasant Street (Corner of Main St. and Pleasant St.) from Friday, April 29th to June 8th
Over 50 paintings will be exhibited and offered for sale.  Each of the nine artists will exhibit  5 or 6 of his or her paintings.  The subject matter and style of the paintings is as rich and varied as the artists themselves and will appeal to a broad audience.  Realistic still life, blissful landscapes, peaceful seas and skies, impressionistic fields and lakes, are among the subject matter.  Based on the mission statements received from the artists, it is clear that all the artists share one thing:  a passion for pastels.  This passion is translated to the canvas in strokes of the pastel crayon in everything from bold shimmering reds to quiet, soft blues.
