Summer Soiree Cabaret        featuring the

Dixie Diehards Dixieland Jazz Band

The Dixie Diehards Dixieland Jazz Band are coming back to the Marion Art Center on Saturday, August 23rd for a Summer Soiree Cabaret at 7:30 p.m.  This will be their third performance at the Art Center.

The group was formed in August, 2006 and is made up of men ( including a female vocalist) who are traditional jazz and Dixieland music enthusiasts, some of whom are also members of the long-established Stone Street Strummers banjo band.  Bill Kiesewetter of Marion plays keyboard with the group.  Steve Shaw ( tuba ) is also a long standing member of the Marion Town Concert Band.

The Diehards’ title derives from the members’ long-term appreciation of and devotion to playing traditional jazz music in the style of the early 20th century exemplified by such New Orleans bands as the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, The Dukes of Dixieland and Louis Armstrong’s All-Stars as well as Chicago area musicians like Muggsy Spanier and Jimmy McPartland.  This show will feature some of Louis Armstrong's greatest hits.

Check out their last performance at the Marion Art Center in April 2008.

Tickets for the event are $10 for Marion Art Center members and $12.50 general admission.  Seating is limited.  Reservations are highly recommended, the last shows were sold out.  (508) 748-1266.  Tables are available for parties of four or more.

The Marion Art Center is located at the corner of Main and Pleasant streets in Marion, Massachusetts.
